General Job Description:
Manage and coordinate all activities as they relate to the Darien Distribution Center involving the receiving, warehousing and shipping of finished and bulk goods. Assure all material is handled in a safe and efficient manner that meets Corporate Good Manufacturing Practices/Policies and Customer Service requirements. Key member of the facility’s management team. Work with Facility Manager, Human Resource Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Plant Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, Warehouse Supervisors, and Production Supervisors. |

Responsibilities:
• Direct warehousing and deployment activities to assist in meeting the distribution center’s objectives, which include safety, quality, customer service levels, volumes and costs.
• Maintain accurate inventory and receiving/shipping records while administering the execution of Just In Time delivery and inventory control system.
• Provide a knowledge base of services to constantly review and propose scheduling, purchasing, and shipping options which will improve labor stabilization, customer service, and cost reduction programs.
• Counsel subordinates through effective, two-way communication sessions to promote their development.
• Coordinate activities of interfacing groups to provide a good working relationship with departments internal and external to the facility, such as Production, Maintenance, Transportation, Human Resources and Accounting.
• Assure that all work areas are maintained in a satisfactory sanitary condition to comply with all Customer, State and Federal regulations.
• Assist Facility Manager in the fiscal budget and capital improvement processes.
• Supervise and coordinate the Administrative Staff to maintain operational reports necessary for the effective measurements of the department for use in improving efficiencies and cost reduction.
• Develop and implement team problem-solving/decision making concepts.
• Develop and maintain backup for key positions within the distribution organization.
• Assure that good inventory control practices are observed and that “Cycle Counting” is maintained within the scope of the procedures.

Applicant Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proven ability to work as part of a large cooperative team.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point).
• Excellent technical skills and attention to detail. |
