What do the codes on my package mean?

The Package Code is located on the bagged products near the UPC bar code or 'best by' date. On boxed products the production code is located in a silver boxed area, usually on the side of the package. On canned products the production code is located on the top or bottom of the can; please reference the top line of coding.

*Note: If you have referenced the Production Code image above, and still have questions please contact our Consumer Relations department.

Are frozen vegetables more nutritious than fresh vegetables?

Yes! Thanks to the innovative process of flash freezing which locks in nutritional goodness at the peak of ripeness.

Do frozen vegetables contain additives or chemicals?

There are no hidden additives or chemicals in Birds Eye vegetables. Most frozen vegetables are just vegetables, but some are labeled with ingredients which help contribute to the great taste. We use a flash-freezing technique to freeze produce. This process locks in flavor, texture and nutrition, and ensures a long shelf life without artificial preservatives.

After a product has been cooked or thawed, can I refreeze the product?

We do not recommend refreezing a product; this makes the product susceptible to freezer burn.

Is freezer burn harmful to my health?

Freezer burn, the white, dried-out patches found on improperly stored frozen foods, won't make you sick, but it will change the quality, color, taste and texture of the product.

What is the best way to store frozen products?
  • Keep foods frozen until you are ready to use.
  • Keep foods frozen in their original packaging.
  • To avoid 'freezer burn' enjoy frozen foods within 3 months of purchase for best quality.
  • Organize your freezer using on pack Best-By Dates or purchase date rotating the oldest purchase to the front for the next use.
  • After preparing, you can store leftovers in refrigerator for 2-3 days in an airtight container.
What is the difference between Select and Deluxe Vegetables?

Select Vegetables are primarily classic vegetables that are abundant throughout the year (i.e. broccoli, cauliflower) and are not typically included as part of a blend, while Deluxe Vegetables are those slightly harder to find vegetables (i.e. artichoke hearts, baby vegetables, asparagus) as well as products that include more than one vegetable (blends of all types.)

Is it okay to eat the vegetables straight from the package?

Frozen foods are not considered 'Ready to Eat'. For optimal flavor and texture, we recommend that you first cook the product as stated on the package before consuming.

Does Birds Eye get products from other countries?

Yes. Birds Eye’s international suppliers are held to the same 7 Points of Quality as our domestic suppliers. They must each meet rigorous qualification requirements, frequent on-site inspections and quality assurance controlling food safety. Food safety is Birds Eye Foods’ highest priority. Our goal is exactly what you would expect, to guarantee our customers that the Birds Eye products they are consuming are safe, wholesome and have superior quality. Birds Eye Foods recently began voluntary country of origin marking on all domestic packaged goods, exceeding the US Customs marking requirements. Please check your product package for named country of origin, which you can find near the 'best by' date.

How can I check my product for ingredients I might be allergic to?

Please refer to the allergen statement on all product packages for accurate ingredient information. This can be found near the Nutrition facts and ingredient listings. Birds Eye Foods includes allergy information for the Top 8 known allergens as outlined by the FDA.
